FIGURES AND ANIMAL SKETCHES

The last significant grouping of material includes numerous pages from Cummings' sketchbooks, comprising both studies for larger works and proportional studies of human anatomy: facial, muscular, and skeletal structure taken from life or from the works of the Masters such as El Greco, whom Cummings admired. This collection contains many separate leaves of sketchbook material, primarily in pencil but also in charcoal and ink.
